IEEE

IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. I am activtly involved in IEEE Technical Activites, and believe that IEEE has something to offer to all members of the Electrical and Software Engineering community.

IEEE has mulitple communities that offer different ways to enhance professional development and also give back to the engineering profession and society. These include the 39 IEEE Technical Societies, interdisciplinary Technical Councils, Geographic Communities such as the Southern Alberta Section, humanitarian activity such as IEEE Smart Village, and affinity groups such as IEEE Young Professionals and IEEE Women in Engineering

My Involvement with IEEE

I joined IEEE as a student member in 1995, and have been a member ever since. I am currently a member of the following IEEE Societies:

• Industry Applications Society
• Power and Energy Society
• Magnetics Society
• Industrial Electronics Society
• Power Electronics Society

For the period 2023 through 2024 I will be President of IEEE Industry Applications Society.

Volunteer Activity

My volunteer activity with IEEE has included:

• General Chair (2017) and Steering Committee Chair IEEE ECCE, Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition. I also held various other roles including Tutorials Chair, Awards Chair, General Co-Chair, and TPC Vice-Chair.
• Steering Committee Chair IEEE IEMDC International Elecric Machines and Drives Conference
• Steering Committee Member IEEE JESTPE
• Steering Committee Member IEEE Electrification Magazine
• Steering Committee Member IEEE Open Journal of Industy Applications
• Prior to be elected as President of IAS, I held Executive Board roles including Vice President, Publications Chair, and Member-at-Large
• Chair, R & D Commitee IEEE Smart Grid
• Chair, Electric Machines Commitee, IEEE IAS
